PRD Anti-Heroes
PRD Anti-Heroes is the first Dutch solo exhibition by the Chinese artist Cao Fei (Guangzhou, 1978). Her videos, photographs, performances and installations explore the new urban culture in China, especially in the Pearl River Delta. She paints a theatrical and humoristic portrait of life in today's China, indicatinghow young people (in particular) are living in a fantasy world influenced by the entertainment industry and global trends such as hip-hop and manga. At the same time, Cao Fei shows in more documentary style the changes brought about by the continuing spread of capitalism, even though it does not yet seem possible for people to break away from traditional Chinese culture.
