The "Tank Picture," repeatedly circulated around the globe, (except in China where it is banned) is now widely held to be one of the most recognized photos ever taken. America On Line selected it as one of the top ten most famous images of all time.Jeff grew up in Southern California where he attended college and started work as a newspaper photographer. At age-25 he accepted a position in Brussels, Belgium as a staff photographer with United Press International and later on as the Associated Press Picture Editor for Southeast Asia in Bangkok where he covered major stories in the region from the Gulf War to the Olympics. Though mostly known for his "Tank Man" image, Widener's other work is never predictable. Sometimes serious, other times quirky with a touch of acidic humor but always thought provoking. His journey is in a constant state of self exploration. Grauwert Galleries and Gallerie Kunstgut Hamburg are proud to present a rare look at Widener's other works which span 40-years of news and feature photography in over 100 countries.
