From Here On
Doug Rickard, From the series A New American Picture, #76.652068, Baltimore, MD. 2009

From Here On sheds a radical new light on photography. Many of the international artists create their work with the overload of digital images they find on the internet. They recycle, clip and cut pictures from Google Earth, Google Street View, Facebook, Flickr, etc. Does this mean that traditional photography is dead? With this exhibition, FoMu opens the debate on issues such as copyright, authorship, privacy and the future of photography. From Here On shows the work of Hans AARSMAN (NL, 1951), Laurence AEGERTER (FR, 1972), Roy ARDEN (CA, 1957), Nancy BEAN (GB, 2005) Christian ALLEN (GB, 1984), Victoria BINSHTOCK (Ru, 1972), Marco BOHR (DE, 1978), Ewoudt BOONSTRA (NL, 1969), Kurt CAVIEZEL (CH, 1964), Tony CHURNSIDE (GB, 1978), David CRAWFORD (US, 1970-2009), Martin CRAWL (FR, 1967), Constant DULLAART (NL, 1979), Leo GABIN (BE, 2002, Lieven Deconinck, Robin de Vooght, Gaëtan Begerem), Gilbert HAGE (Libanon, 1966), Monica HALLER (US, 1980), Mishka HENNER (GB, 1976), James HOWARD (GB, 1981), Thomas MAILAENDER (FR, 1979), Jenny ODELL (US, 1986), Josh POEHLEIN (US, 1985), Willem POPELIER (NL, 1982), Jon RAFMAN (CA, 1981), Doug RICKARD (US, 1968), Adrian SAUER (DE, 1976), Frank SCHALLMAIER (NL, 1977), Andreas SCHMIDT (DE, 1967), Pavel Maria SMEJKAL (Czech Republic, 1957), Claudia SOLA (NL, 1974), Shion SONO (JA, 1961), Jens SUNDHEIM (DE, 1970), Penelope UMBRICO (US, 1957), Corinne VIONNET (CH, 1969) Hermann ZSCHIEGNER (DE, 1971).Exhibition produced by the Rencontres d’Arles, curated by Clément Chéroux, Joan Fontcuberta, Erik Kessels, Martin Parr and Joachim Schmid, with the participation of Roland Buschmann. The exhibition is part of the ‘Summer of Photography’.
