Profile

The Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery opened in September 1999 in Tokyo Opera City, the art and culture complex at Hatsudai in Tokyo. As a new art gallery presenting a new approach to culture for the 21st Century that encompasses both music and art, the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery combines special exhibitions and permanent exhibitions.

The special exhibitions focus on contemporary art by artists from around the world, and the permanent exhibition will display works from the Terada Collection, a collection put together by Terada Kotaro, one of the operators of Tokyo Opera City. The Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery is a new type of art gallery, designed with awareness for urban living. I believe the Gallery contributes to the creation of a new and open culture.
